Check the cutout size before buying
A cooktop’s outside dimensions are different from the opening it needs. Send the new model number and its cutout drawing, plus the width and depth of the existing opening. We also check the required corner radius, clearances and how much stone would remain.
Enlarge a suitable existing opening
An enlargement depends on the material, thickness, condition and support beneath the stone. Nearby seams, cracks, sink openings and narrow strips can limit the options. A smaller replacement cooktop may need a different solution; cutting cannot make an opening smaller.
Allow room below the benchtop
Photograph the cupboard, drawer rails and appliance space beneath the opening. An induction cooktop may need different ventilation or clearance from the old unit. The manufacturer’s installation requirements guide the proposed alteration.
Plan the cutting and connection separately
We quote the stone modification. A licensed electrician, gas fitter or plumber handles disconnection and reconnection as required. Tell us which trades are already arranged so the work can be scheduled in the right order. Appliance supply and connections are separate unless included in writing.
What to send for a quote
Send a full view of the benchtop, close-ups of the proposed opening, a view inside the cupboard and your suburb. Include the material name if known and the manufacturer’s installation drawing. Tell us about cracks, previous repairs, stairs and restricted access. We confirm the scope and price before you book.
Opening details

Small reference images show the type of opening. Your dimensions and installation drawing guide the work.
Questions, answered.
Can you change a 600 mm cooktop to a 900 mm cooktop?
Sometimes. Nominal appliance widths do not tell us the required opening or available support. Send both models, the new installation drawing and photos above and below the benchtop.
Do you connect the new cooktop?
The cutting quote covers the agreed stone work. Electrical or gas connection is handled by the appropriate licensed trade and is separate unless expressly included.
How much does cooktop cutting cost?
Standard cooktop cutting starts from $690 + GST per cut. Material, access, dimensions and finishing affect the final written quote.
Which areas do you cover?
We are Sydney based and assess regional NSW enquiries by address. Melbourne and Queensland work is coordinated through scheduled visits. Send your suburb so we can confirm availability and any travel costs.
