Repairing a chipped stone dining or coffee table

Stone table chips need material, edge and access information. A local repair should be considered alongside the condition of the top and its support.

Show the whole table

Include a photograph of the complete table, its base and the damaged edge. A small dining-table chip is different from a large missing corner or a crack across the top. Tell us whether the top is fixed or loose and provide the material information if available. Do not lift a heavy stone top simply to obtain an underside photograph.

Pattern and edge shape

Marble veins, granite crystals and engineered-stone particles each affect the way a fill may blend. A polished curved edge can also make a change in profile noticeable. Send a close-up with undamaged stone beside it and a size reference. The proposed repair should address the actual outline as well as the colour, with any likely difference explained.

Separate repair from protection

A chip repair does not automatically include polishing the whole table, stain removal or protective film. Identify scratches, dull marks and stains separately in the enquiry. If protection film is also wanted, discuss the finish, dimensions and installation scope as a separate service. Film does not substitute for assessing a cracked or unstable top.

Plan practical access

Provide the suburb, table dimensions and available working space. Move chairs and loose items away from the immediate area, and explain any stairs or restricted entry. Heavy furniture handling should be agreed rather than assumed. The written quote confirms the included damage, expected appearance and return-to-use instructions for the chosen repair system.

Questions, answered.

What photos should I send for this repair?

Send a full view, clear close-ups with a size reference, the material name if known and your suburb. Include previous repairs, coatings and access details.

Is an invisible result guaranteed?

No. Colour, pattern, texture, lighting and damage affect the result. The written quote explains the likely finish and practical limitations for your stone.
