The opened waterfall joints
The mitred joints between the island top and waterfall panels had opened, leaving a dark line along the edge. The customer reported that the joints opened soon after installation and that packers remained beneath the waterfall edges. The stone’s grey veining continued through the panels, so the repair needed to improve the joint line while working with the existing installation.
Preparation and filling
The agreed work was to clean and prepare both opened mitre joints, then refill them with colour-matched stone resin. The scope was a joint repair to the installed stone. It did not include lifting the panels, changing their alignment or carrying out structural support work. Those distinctions matter because the appearance of a repaired joint and the stability of its support are separate issues.
The completed repair
The after photographs show the filled joints blending more closely with the light background of the Super White dolomite. The pronounced dark opening is reduced, while the natural pattern and the original panel arrangement remain visible. These are original photographs from the completed job, taken from different viewpoints and under changing daylight.
Planning a similar waterfall repair
A resin-filled joint may remain visible, and further floor or panel movement can cause it to reopen. Send photos along the full joint, close-ups of any missing filler and a wider view showing the waterfall and floor. Tell us when the joint opened and whether the panels move, so we can confirm an appropriate repair scope.
